Dimensions: 7.1” W x 4.4” H
Series: Mente-nada
Mente-nada explores the gentle invitation to quiet the mind and swim in silence. The series serves as a visual response to those moments when the mind becomes overwhelmed, exhausted, or clouded, and deeply craves a space to shut off and connect with the inner self. Inspired by the undulating patterns of brain coral and the serene, rhythmic textures of the seashore, these pieces celebrate the restorative power of an empty, peaceful mind.
Mery Bingen is a San Juan–based visual artist and landscape architect whose work is deeply inspired by Puerto Rico’s natural landscapes. Raised in Dorado, she developed an early connection to art and nature, studying drawing and painting with renowned local artists before earning degrees in Visual Arts, Communications, and Landscape Architecture. Her multidisciplinary background—including studies in agronomy and architecture—shapes a distinctive creative perspective that bridges design, ecology, and craftsmanship. Mery’s journey in ceramics began in Cayey and later evolved through intensive training at Puerto Rico Ceramics in Santurce, where she refined her practice under the mentorship of respected ceramic artists, developing a strong affinity for wheel-thrown pottery and handmade forms.
