Jon Ander Azaola López de Guereño is a Spanish artist who lives and works between Spain and Puerto Rico. Trained in Fine Arts in Bilbao and later specializing in painting and engraving in Puerto Rico, his artistic practice spans painting, printmaking, and ceramics. Guided by a deep love of nature and an interest in the mysticism of mermaids, Azaola creates expressive ceramic birds, fishes, and sirens that capture the beauty, movement, and distinct personality of each subject. His background as a painter and draftsman is evident in the fluid lines and sculptural sensitivity of his work, where careful observation meets a playful, handcrafted aesthetic. Having exhibited internationally throughout Europe, Japan, and the Caribbean, Azaola continues to draw inspiration from the natural environments of the two places he calls home, as well as the mythical worlds that exist between nature and imagination.
